Description
¶1. Mark Coleman appeals the sentencing portion of judgments convicting him of intentionally causing bodily harm to a child and bail jumping, contrary to Wis. Stat. §§ 948.03(2)(b) and 946.49(1)(b), both as a habitual criminal. See Wis. Stat. § 939.62(1)(a). Coleman argues that he was denied his right to counsel when the circuit court required him to represent himself at sentencing. We conclude that the record is insufficient to support a conclusion that Coleman forfeited his right to counsel and was competent to proceed without counsel. Therefore, we reverse the sentence and remand for further proceedings consistent with this opinion.
