Description
1 Bruce L. Cohen appeals from a judgment in which a jury convicted him of nine counts of violation of a restraining order and two counts of bail jumping-misdemeanor, all as a habitual criminal, in violation of Wis. Stat. §§ 813.125(7), 946.49(1)(a) and 939.62, and from an order denying his postconviction motion. Cohen filed a postconviction motion requesting ""a new trial and/or resentencing and/or sentence modification and/or sentence credit."" The motion was denied. On appeal, Cohen asserts that he is entitled to a new trial because he was denied his due process rights when the trial court quashed his subpoena of an agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation; and he was denied effective assistance of counsel. Cohen also argues that the trial court erroneously exercised its discretion when it sentenced him to fourteen years' imprisonment for his conviction of eleven misdemeanors. Because we determine that the trial court did not deny Cohen his due process rights when it quashed Cohen's subpoena of the FBI agent, that Cohen received effective assistance of counsel, and that the trial court did not erroneously exercise its discretion in sentencing Cohen, we affirm.3 BACKGROUND
